Swimming at the Sooke Potholes Park in the summer is a delight!
Deep, still ponds of clear water hold a mystery that draws
locals and tourists from all over.
This unique series of geological formations commonly known
as potholes.
The "pot holes" are scrubbed out of the bedrock by
the action of boulders on the river bed.
They were formed 14,000 years ago, during the retreat of the
last ice age which covered most of Vancouver Island as well
as other areas of North America.
However, I think the action is still happening today, as in
the winter the water rages down the falls with a hugantic
force!
